Malaysia Flight 370 and Satelite Imagarey

There has been a lot of criticism of the Australian and this morning the Chinese government on how long it has taken them to release the information and images from satellite photos and although I don't know a whole lot about spy satellites I can understand why it could take so long for the images to be released to the public.

First let's not forget how China was recently ridiculed for releasing images, than saying whoops our mistake those weren't what we thought they where and said images weren't suppose to be released anyways, so no government or agency want's to release anything to the media until it has be thoroughly analyzed.

One thing I do understand and have first hand knowledge about that would go hand in hand with not wanting to release the images too soon.  I've been to this part of the world, and though it is disgusting , there is tons of junk floating around the ocean especially this area of the world oceans.

There are certain parts of the seas that have been called Gyres and there is actually 5 of them in the oceans. Now these Gyres have always existed and are basically a place where the water of the world's oceans come together to kind of filter is the best way I can put it and has been doing this process for millions of years, the problem today is with the help of ocean currents every bit of garbage  floating in the water come together in these Gyers.

I served 20+ years in the United States Navy  and any where and at any time you may find something floating in the world's oceans, but as I have been in the Indian Ocean and Pacific Ocean Gyres or garbage patches as they are now called  the junk floating there is as small as a pin head to the possible size of a small car, now the larger sizes like Australia and China are estimating these two larger pieces to be (some 72 feet), don't occur very often, I understand why they are being careful because I have found that even looking down at them from a ship the junk isn't always easy to identify, so imagine trying to identify something from outer space.

Another reason to be careful, is exactly what happened to China in the early parts of the search when they said the found something by satellite early on, then turned out to be a mistake, and there are families hanging on every word from all the governments involved in the search and the news media itself, so a mistake hurts not only the investigation but the families of those who are on the flight.

So I say let them take their time analyzing these photos, it's for good reason and it's not like taking a picture of the family and you being able to identify each person in the picture.
