4 dead, dozens of students missing as S. Korean ferry sinks | KING5.com Seattle

Something like this hits close to home here in Washington where many of us ride a ferry from one of the many Washington State islands at least once a week, some of us daily.

My prayers go out to everyone who is missing family members from the ferry and of course those who have been rescued but may be injured.  It is strange to me however that divers have already been aboard the sunken ferry but as of yet haven't even found bodies of anyone who is missing.

I have rode aboard ferry's in this area of the world, and though South Korea is closer to US standards when it comes to safety I have seen ships there with so many passengers that I would wonder if the officials truly know how many people where aboard the ferry.

The sad thing here is however I"m sure the school would know for sure how many students are missing, and I am afraid that time is running out even for those missing who may have found an air pocket somewhere in the hull of the ships, mainly because of the cold, although there is still time to find them.  I am also hopeful that some of the students who have been rescued may have been taken ashore somewhere where official counting is not happening and they may turn up soon.

Doctors, medical staff on drugs put patients at risk | KING5.com Seattle

Very scarey problem, but I don't understand why society for some reason has this collective assumption that because these people are doctors, nurses or some other type of health care professional they are immune to the prescription medication addiction epidemic. I myself know of 1 doctor who today readily admits that he is an addict to prescription narcotics, which started back when he himself became a patient undergoing surgery.

He told me the first time he diverted medication it was suppose to be the only time, he was in pain, working a double shift he wasn't planning on and his prescription was at home, so he told himself "just this once". He was so nervous after he did it because he was scared he was going to get caught, but he didn't and for that matter he said no one even suspected, so the next time it was even easier.

I think the main method to help these people will be to include urine screening for these health care professionals, I know there are some doctors who may feel degraded by having to provide urine samples for drug testing but the way I look at it, just as I had to do my 20 years in the US Military, if you have nothing to hide what's the big deal about being tested and if you are truly concerned about the people as a health care professional you should be prepared to provide that sample, you may not have a problem but what about that doctor in the next room over???

Twitter helps Oregon deputies bust teens at party | KING5.com Seattle

Well guess what there Nat Gray, you are responsible for what is going on at this party whether you invited these underage kids yourself and despite the fact you say you did not supply alcohol to them. As an adult there at the party by law it is your responsibility to ensure that they are not consuming alcoholic beverages.

Laws like this have become in effect because to often friends of teenagers who are over the age 21 supply alcohol to underage parties and then someone ends up getting injured or killed in a alcohol related car crash and as we all know most often it is an innocent driver who had nothing to do with the party but was just on the wrong part of the road at the wrong time.

I hate to say it the people who are often prosecuted under these laws against providing alcohol to underage party goers are often the teens parent or other family member who is over 21 who think they are actually doing a good thing being under the assumption that these "kids" are going to drink anyways and I would rather have my child drinking right here where I know where they are at, but the bad thing that comes from that is the fact other parent's children are there as well and end up drinking or driving or many times teenage girls end up sexually assaulted.

I truly wish that parents out there would grow up and think about the consequences of their actions when it comes to their children. Yes it's true that most teens experiment with alcohol, but instead of shrugging our shoulders and saying it's going to happen anyways, let's teach out children the sense of responsibility and the dangers of alcoholism and drug abuse.

WSP seeks suspect charged with 59 counts of sexual misconduct | KING5.com Seattle

The only thing worse than a child molester is someone who uses religion as an excuse to abuse children or other people for that matter. I hope they find this individual soon before he moves on to another part of the country or for that matter another part of the world where he can hurt more children.

I'm praying that he is still inside the country because now that a warrant has been issued for his arrest it will be near impossible for him to jump on an airplane and fly to another part of the world, many of these people who molest children especially those who do it on "religious" grounds often escape to parts of Asia or Africa and get away with things like this for the rest of their lives because it is so easy in those parts of the world for them to disappear into the shadows.

Should we press mute on hateful speech or do we need to listen up?_ - 10News.com KGTV ABC10 San Diego

I agree with the Rabbi, if these people who live their lives to rant hate speech about one group or another are shut up and prevented from making their views public they will end up lurking in the shadows and many of these groups would have succeeded in murders that where actually stopped because they brought public attention to themselves.

No sign of crackdown as Ukraine deadline passes - CNN.com

The problem right now is that the Russian people are supporting Putin,
he is promising them the Russia of the Soviet Union, a Russia that no
longer exists and will never exist again.

I love the Russian
people and I hate that they have a leader that are misleading them into
thinking their government is still and international player, if Russia
did not posses nuclear weapons right now they wouldn't even be on the
Security Council of the United Nations, and that's where Putin has his
power.

The thing that scares me about Putin is he is no different
than many dictators of the past, he will get away with what he has done
in Crimea and will probably take part of Ukraine because there is only
two things that Putin is scared of, first that he will be thrown out of
power by his own people (which will happen) and two military power, he
is not scared of economic sanctions because they are not going to hurt
him personally until his people are hurting and we get back to point 1,
he is thrown out of power, but what may happen before than is there may
be a military confrontation between Russian forces and forces from the
west and today the fly over of the USS Donald  Cook was just a jab to
see what the ships response would be.

If there is a military
confrontation than again we will go to point 1, because like I said I
like the Russian people and the last thing they want is military
conflict with NATO and if that happens he will be thrown out of power,
so eventually Putin will be gone but I am afraid that more lives will be
lost than the 1 reported in Crimea and the 1 reported in Ukraine.
